Help At Your Fingertips AKA Text-Based Coaching for Dementia Caregivers
Earlier this month, the FDA approved the first Alzheimer’s drug in 18 years. Regardless of whether Aducanumab warranted approval (in case you missed it, it has been controversial), we hope that we are on a path to arresting the progression of Alzheimer’s and — ultimately — finding a cure. We can’t wait for the day when not one more person is lost to the fog of Alzheimer’s.
But, as we continue the search for a cure for Alzheimer’s, there are millions of families who are already navigating the fog of Alzheimer’s and millions more about to fall into it. We have to care for them. Care — alongside cure — must be a societal priority.
People with dementia — and the people who care for them — deserve high quality support and the opportunity to benefit from the lessons of those who came before them. At The Helm, dementia caregiving is our sole focus. Dementia caregiving is tough and lonely. We believe, if we care together, it can be a little less tough, a little less lonely.
One of the ways we do that is by providing caregivers like you — a child, partner, sibling, or friend of a Loved One with dementia — with help at your fingertips. What does that mean? We connect you to real dementia caregivers who have been there before and can tell you what worked (and what didn’t) for them and other caregivers. The Helm’s Text-Based Coaching pairs you with dementia caregivers who are available via text, on demand, to help you navigate challenging questions, experiences, and decisions that arise while caring for a Loved One with Alzheimer’s or dementia. If you, or someone you know, is interested in caregiver support — or just want to learn more — sign up here for a dementia caregiver coach (oh, and, its currently free!)
There’s more happening at The Helm. If coaching isn’t right for you, you can explore other caregiver stories.
